Fashion - we all know and love it. But from an early age, we are quickly taught incredulous gender roles: girls wear pretty dresses and are polite, and guys wear jeans and hide emotion. It's 2020 and we are still holding onto these "rules" like they are governed. We are told that we are not seen as true/real women without wearing dresses, and men are not man enough if they shed a tear. Luckily, we have fashion, our savior. I hilariously speak about fashion as if it's a person that everyone loves. But such is true, fashion knows no gender.
We speak about tomboys, or gender bending with such hysteria of fazes. A female is called a tomboy if she prefers joggers over skirts, and a man will be named derogatorily if seen wearing pink. Then society decides to place "gender bending" as a valid way to describe those who don't use gender roles to discern their lives, as a means of stating that one is "bending" the implicit yet traditionally seen gender obligations. The true transcendence of fashion is defined by deriving your own personal style, regardless of judgement that may be received from others. Fashion is everything but the words "boy" and "girl". Fashion is the decision to wake up and wear what excites you and breaks the monotony of what is commonly seen. Whether you are a "female" dressed in "Fear of God Essentials" shorts, or a "male" wearing the new "Tie Dye" Air Jordan 1's, you belong in no category other than the one you design for yourself.
One of the most observant ways of the non bounded gender that upholds fashion are fashion shows. Enjoy these photos of fashion shows and/or events portraying the ways fashion fluctuates regardless of gender:
This is not shown in the photo, however, he is seen wearing black heels.
